III International Scientific Symposium “Universidad de Pinar del Río 2017”.

In commemoration of the forty-fifth anniversary of the institutionalization of higher education in the province.

From October 17 to 19, 2017 in Pinar del Río, Cuba.

Dear colleagues:

The University of Pinar del Rio, known under the glorious names of Sergio and Luis Saíz Montes de Oca, is located in the westernmost part of the Cuban archipelago, 140 km from the capital of the country, a territory characterized by beautiful natural landscapes, where The world-renowned Viñales Valley and the biosphere reserves Peninsula de Guanahacabibes stand out.

It was a forgotten territory by the pre-revolutionary governments till 1959, when the province began an increasing socioeconomic and educational development. It was in 1972 when the University of Havana founded a college in Pinar del Río, where pedagogical, medicine, economics, agricultural and livestock studies were carried out at first.

Then, with the passing of years and the continuous development, the number of campus increased in 11 municipalities of the province, where more than 35 degree courses are studied in different fields of science.

This scientific event aims at celebrating the forty-five anniversary of higher education development in Pinar del Río, in order to promote reflection and international exchange on the scientific results, the missions and functions of the university in the territory, in the country and, generally, in the international context, to continue to perfect the role of the university in terms of development.


GENERAL OBJETIVES

  1. To analyze the results on the principal experiences towards the universalization of the university, the development trends and perspectives in higher education, in favor of the construction of a better world.
  2. To exchange experiences on researching results related to the improvement on education of the future´s workers education and university professors, as well as main improvements obtained in the scientific development of the different branches of knowledge.
  3. To foster international cooperation and partnership among institutions, organizations and universities to contribute to increase the quality of higher education and successfully succeed the commitments.

PRESENTATIONS

The oral presentations should be delivered in 10 minutes of exposition. Each working session will plan a time for questions and answers. Posters format should be 100 cm x 100 cm. The presenter should remain beside the poster during the time scheduled in the program to answer any question from the audience.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All abstracts should be submitted electronically, by August 30, 2017 to the Organizing Committee. It should be written in no more than 250 words in MS Word format, paper size: 8 ½ x 11 ó 220 x 280 mm. It must be included the title of the paper, the author name(s), the academic/scientific degree, the affiliation, the country and a description of the main content of the paper. Acceptance decisions will be made no later than September 30, 2017.

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The papers should be related to the Symposium themes. Papers accepted must be submitted electronically by October 10, 2017 to be included in the proceedings. It should be written in MS Word format or PDF Adobe Acrobat, paper size: letter format (8 ½ x 11), single line spacing, Font type & size must be Arial 12. It should be structured in 10 pages maximum, describing abstract, introduction, main body, conclusions, recommendations and bibliography. Include also charts, photographs or graphics.

The abstracts and papers should be emailed to the Organizing Committee or posted at http://www.simposio.upr.edu.cu

All papers accepted by the Organizing Committee will be published electronically with the ISBN immediately prior to the Symposium. A copy of the CD will be included in the Congress registration package.

Invitation letter can be requested.

The registration fee covers the registration package, access to the scientific program, and the official and social events (opening, closing, welcome reception, exhibition, specialized visits, farewell) participation certificate and CD with ISBN.

* To pay the student rate, it is compulsory to present a signed sealed letter from the institution of origin stating the person is an undergraduate student.

**Accompanying persons are allowed to participate only at the scientific and social events. To receive other benefits a full registration fee should be payed.

PAYMENT

All prices must be paid in CUC (Cuban Convertible Pesos). The exchange to this monetary unit can be done at airports, bank agencies, hotels. It can be exchanged Euros, American and Canadian Dollars, Sterling, Franc, Mexican Pesos, to the current exchange rate.
